För ca 1 år sedan skrev MedTechbloggen om den då kommande 1st World Congress on Surgical Training. Nu planerar initiativtagaren Margareta Berg den kommande kongressen:

Surgicon Foundation starts Major Fundraising Initiative – 2nd World Congress on Surgical Training June 17-19, 2013

“Those of you who never will need a surgical procedure can stop listening now.” The success of the first Surgicon Congress in September 2011 on the topic “How to transfer manual surgical skills to new surgeons?” – closely related to Patient’s safety and the surgeon’s feeling of security entering the profession – will be followed by a new meeting in June 2013, at the Convention Centre in Gothenburg, Sweden. The unique factors of the meeting are the mixture of all surgical specialties and the global engagement from lecturers and attendees.

To strengthen the scientific basis of the congress organisation, a Local Scientific Committee has been created including 7 members from the Sahlgrenska University Hospital and the Sahlgrenska Academy in Gothenburg, Sweden. The committee will organizationally be placed under the international Scientific Advisory Board.

In May 2012 the Surgicon Foundation was created, being the financial platform of the coming Surgicon congresses. Right now a “Major Fundraising Initiative” is started to build the funds needed. Actually there is on-going work in 10 global workgroups lead by distinguished international key opinion leaders in surgery, dealing with the next congress program content.
